BIARGS Survey

Minimal Access: Minimal Conversion to conventional surgery

BIARGS Audit Dataset

To ensure robotic surgery is provided within clinical governance framework, surgeonsshould maintain adequate case load surgical skills and participate in CPD. Audit of annual workload and outcomes is submitted to BIARGS. This leads to BIARGS recognised registered robotic surgeon working in UK and Ireland with names uploaded on BIARGS website. Annual appraisal process within each trust will be responsible for managing individual surgeon performance. Members can submit data via BIARGS website with personised password protected portal. Anonymised data will be included in annual report for society AGM for discussion of trends and shared learning.

BIARGS Mission Statement

The Association aims to provide a platform for gynaecologists who use robotics to:

  • Promote the use of minimally access robotics in surgery in gynaecology for better patient outcomes
  • Exchange ideas and assist each other
  • Establish strong links between oncological and benign gynaecological surgeons doing robotics
  • Set standards and guidelines
  • Establish a forum for promoting education, establishing positive links with the RCOG
  • Conduct research and audit
  • Develop industry partnerships for safe implementation of robotic surgery in UK and Ireland
  • Close affiliation to the Society of European Robotic Gynaecological Surgery (SERGS) and other international partners
