British & Irish Association of Robotic Gynaecological Surgeons - BIARGS

Nurse, ODP & First Assistant Sessions

Thank you for your interest in BIARGS and we hope that you will be able to join us at The University of Surrey, Guildford for this international educational meeting in gynaecological robotic surgery. Guildford is a renowned centre of excellence for minimally invasive surgery and training, and is the recognised Epicentre for training in robotic Gynae surgery in the UK.

Embedding robotic surgery into mainstream clinical practice is one of the key themes to this meeting and that includes at its heart the clinical training and recognition of theatre nurses and first assistants in robotic surgery. There will also be some interesting insights into what may lie ahead for us all with new and future robotic surgical systems from Intuitive Surgical and other manufacturers.

The main meeting comprises a Two-day conference, with Day One including a whole-day parallel session for theatre nurses and first assistants. This will be lead by Dee Taylor the nursing representative on the BIARGS Committee and the robotics theatre team from the Royal Surrey in Guildford and also from the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle. The second day will be spent together with the whole society and will include a session on multidisciplinary working in robotics.

In addition, as a separate satellite meeting on the day preceding the Conference a surgical workshop will be held in the Veterinary School Clinical Skills Lab, where training and accreditation may be attained in acting as a trained theatre nurse or robotic first assistant for Da Vinci robotic surgery.

Everyone is very welcome, but we do understand that time and money are precious, and so some people may wish to attend only the pre-meeting Technology Day workshop, or the Main two day Conference, or ideally register for both!

Registration for the main conference includes the cost of the Conference Dinner at Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking.
